Mount Kenya Climbing Safari

Welcome to our Mount Kenya climbing safari that marks the best of Kenya mountaineering tour. The Mount Kenya climbing safari takes us to the peak of Kenya and the second highest point in Africa.

The safari offers you a chance to explore the best of natural forest, glaciers, panoramic view, wildlife, and the hiking experience.

Day 1: NAIROBI

Meal plan: (X, L, D)

On this day you will have enough time to relax and tour the city destinations as you prepare for Mount Kenya climbing safari which holds the peak of Kenya. In this day, you will tour the central business district, national museums, Karen Blixen, and the giraffe center. Later you will have dinner and overnight in a hotel/lodge in Nairobi.

Day 2: NAIROBI – NYERI

Meal plan: (B, L, D)

On this day you will have an opportunity at sunrise and see the beauty of Nairobi city from the comfort of your hotel. Later after breakfast, you will travel to the central of Kenya, Nyeri County.

In Nyeri, you will pack and prepare to check out for climbing Mount Kenya early in the morning. You will have dinner and enjoy our overnight stay at a camp at the base of Mount Kenya.

Day 3: MOUNT KENYA GATE – OLD MOSES

Meal plan: (B, L, D )

We will begin our day with an early morning breakfast and check out to climb the Mount Kenya. However, we will first register our details with the Kenya Wildlife Service in the park before we begin our hike.

We will climb our way up to the first checkpoint called old Moses. We will have our dinner and spend the night at Old Moses which 3300 meters above sea level. The day will end after doing five hours of mountaineering.

Day 4: OLD MOSES – MACKINDERS VALLEY

Meal plan: (B, L, D)

We will begin our day at 0800 hours in the morning to continue with our hike towards the second checkpoint. We will hike for eight hours on this day, a journey that will test our patience, endurance, and determination.

The will ascend towards Mackinders valley through the beautiful valleys of Likii to Teleki, Sendeyo and two ancient parasitic vents towards a peak around 3990 meters. We camp in Shiptons camp which is below the beautiful Batian and Point Nelion that is 4300 meters.

Day 5: MACKINDERS VALLEY – POINT LENANA

Meal plan: (B, L, D)

This day will begin little after midnight around 0200 hours for various reasons that include catching the sunrise at the peak of Mount Kenya. Our peak will be point Lenana which is 4985 meters. The hike will take us four hours early in the morning toward point Lenana.

However, you will require being psychologically prepared and ready to ensure you get to point Lenana. This trek to point Lenana is the most challenging trek during Mount Kenya climbing safari hence requiring a strong mind and fit physic for the final climb.

After sunrise at point Lenana, we will begin our climb down towards Naromoru route where we will have a beautiful of the Lewis glacier. The beauty on the highest mountain in Mount Kenya. Nevertheless, we will have a rest and enjoy breakfast at point Austrian Hut which is about 4720 meter.

At this point during our breakfast, you will have a chance to see the batian and nelion route. Later we will proceed to Two Tarn Camp for lunch and later climb down to Shipton campsite for our dinner and overnight stay. The hike is considered hilarious and panoramic for anyone for the view is epic and the experience is awesome.

Day 6: SHIPTON – MERU BANDAS

Meal plan: (B, L, D)

We should leave Shipton Camp at 0830 hours for Mount Meru Bandas by means of the  Simba Tarn. This day you should encounter the best of the other half of the Mountain such as enjoy a view of Lake Michelson.

Moreover, you will have an opportunity to enjoy Vivianne Falls, Mintos Lakes, and Lunch at “Street Head” and digress from the primary course for 40 Minutes for the Nithi falls which are considered to offer an incredible sight. Last on we should slide to Meru Bandas where you will be for the night. This is our last night in the forest during our Mount Kenya climbing safari.

Day 7 MERU BANDAS – NAIROBI

Meal plan: (B, L, D)

Our day will begin at 00800 Hours, Where we will leave Mt Kenya Meru Banda’s and begin our 4 Hours to leave the Park through Chogoria course.

If it’s not too much trouble take note of that we should trek the initial 10 Kilometers and be picked by our tour van for next 22 Km out of the Mount Kenya to Chogoria town. At Chogoria town we will eat at a neighborhood eatery and travel to Nairobi in our tour van.
